Shelley Thomas is a partner in Hill Dickinson’s Commerce and Technology Team.  She has over 11 years’ experience working on outsourcing transactions, particularly in the IT sector, and advising on Data Protection compliance and strategy.  She has a Masters degree in Information Technology and Telecommunications Law and is an active member of the Society for Computers and Law (sitting on the Committee of the Northern Group) and an Associate member of the British Computer Society.

Throughout her career, Shelley has worked with clients from the private and public sectors and has lectured at a number of major universities. She has appeared on Radio 4 (You and Yours) discussing European IP issues and has been a key speaker at NHS and Information Security conferences.

Shelley's recent experience includes advising a worldwide financial transaction services company in relation to the transfer of personal data to the US, and assisting a household name client report a data security breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
