LPO booming
Rio Tinto Group, the world’s third- largest mining company has entered into a legal services outsourcing agreement with CPA Global, a provider of legal process outsourcing (LPO) services in a bid to save Rio Tinto up to 20% annually in legal costs.
Under the agreement, CPA Global will be providing a team of lawyers in India to support Rio Tinto’s in-house legal function on a global basis. The work covered by the contract will include contract review and drafting, legal research, and document review.
“CPA Global’s India team will serve as an extension of Rio Tinto’s internal legal department. They are handpicked, well trained legal professionals who will work on a whole range of Rio Tinto legal matters from across the globe,” said Director, CPA Global and Country Head India, Bhaskar Bagchi.
Meanwhile Pinsent Masons has signed an outsourcing deal which will see the firm send litigation work to South Africa. It has launched a litigation support service in co-operation with LPO provider Exigent, with the work to be undertaken by qualified lawyers in Exigent's outsourcing centre in Cape Town.
"We have built a strong relationship with Exigent over the past few years, perfecting a flexible document processing service for our firm. We are now building upon this foundation in developing our data review service,” said Pinsents head of dispute resolution and litigation Nigel Kissack. "This is a genuine partnership between our two businesses, which will deliver high-quality service which, most importantly, will represent a cost-effective option for our clients." |
